And man was it fun. My review will be posted on conspyer soon, but until then enjoy some photos and videos!

In case you missed it on Conspyer, here is my con in review:

One happy customer?

So here we are again.  Back in Chattanooga.

I told one person at Con Nooga that I am in Chattanooga so much I need to buy a second house there.  Con Nooga has always been a lot of fun and this year was no exception.  Paul and I were the Artist Guests of Honor, so we got to design the poster for this year’s event.  It is always cool to see my work on t-shirts, program books, and con badges.  Plus everyone seemed to really respond well to my Frankencthulhu.  Friday was the normal set up where we sit around all day in the Dealers Room, but a great thing about Con Nooga is the wide assortment of products and dealers in the room!  You can follow this link to see a short list of some of the vendors from this year’s show.  After the exhibitor hall closed, Paul and I joined some of our other artist friends in a panel about Artist Alleys.  We tried mugging a few of the people as they walked in, but were quickly informed that the panel is about artists who work in the “artist alleys” at conventions.  Leave it to us to get things wrong.  It was a nice assortment of people, like horror artists Billy Tackett and Sam Flegal and fantasy artist Mark Helwig. We gave attendees a look at what it takes to be an artist, how to make a name for yourself, and general survival tips for the modern day art maker.

Our friend Michael Crumb, who writes for the Chattanooga Pulse, has written an article about the great conventions that happen in Chattanooga and gave Paul and I quite a shout out. Here is a snippet and a link to the full article:

“The poster for the upcoming Con Nooga (Chattanooga’s increasingly popular “other” multi-fandom convention happening Feb. 17-19 at the Chattanooga Choo Choo) features an unusual hybrid image by brothers and Nashville artists Michael and Paul Bielaczyc (pronounced BELA-CHICK).

Each contributed a portion of one of their paintings to this cosmic juxtaposition that will welcome con attendees. In the image (pictured here), Paul’s “We Need a Herd” meets Michael’s “It Came From Outer Space,” and the wizard-meets-alien motif conjures the paradoxical retro thrust into the future that characterizes much sci-fi and fantasy these days.”

So I just got back from Illuxcon and wanted to write down my experiences while they are fresh in my mind.

Thursday

We left early on Thursday, which was also my birthday, so I wasn’t really looking forward to a 12 hour car journey… but I was traveling with Grant Cooley and he had planned ahead and packed some good traveling audio books and some live metal concert CD’s.  We had some good talks as well and the 12 hours passed quickly.  During the trip, my throat started to get a little rough, but I passed it off as an after effect of lots of talking.  We arrived at the Ramada, checked in, and went to Red Lobster to enjoy a very large meal.  I even allowed Grant and my brother to have the wait staff sing Happy Birthday to me.  Normally I will leave the restaurant during such shenanigans, but then I would be stuck in Altoona with no way back to the hotel.  So I swallowed my pride and let them have their laugh at me.

We are currently shipping orders for Halloween as fast as possible, because this weekend we will be invading GMX in full force. We will have a dealers room spot and an artist’s table. I will have a brand spanking new painting to show as well as some of my new masks, one of which is cold cast in bronze!

We also helped the Apparition Abolishers with a mold of one of their creatures, the Wendigo!

We also have some cool costumes lined up, and look forward to partying late into the night!

See you then!

Coverage of Hypericon 7, 2011

Author Guest of Honor: Glen Cook
Artist Guest of Honor: Loren Damewood

Hypericon is one of our home shows which always hold a dear place in our hearts. This year saw a little downsizing of Hypericon, but I swore I would pay no attention to that and try to fit all my normal goofing off and partying in for the weekend.
