About the Pieces:
What lies in the dark, your worst fears come to life? Or is it simply your imagination…
When your parents send you into the dark basement, you know something lurks in the shadows, waiting for you. You carefully crack open the door, the darkness threatening to swallow you whole. As you reach around the corner to flip on the light switch, something touches your fingertip, something that shouldn’t be there. And maybe it isn’t there, maybe it’s all just in your head.
After discussing this piece of art with some of my horror fans, the piece evolved into a sorta of Choose Your Own Adventure style art piece. The first iteration features a wonderfully playful clown. The second piece is a cute, little spider. Eventually this will be an entire series within itself, featuring the same setting, child, door, etc. but featuring different terrors, the things that lurk in the shadows, or hide in the darkest parts of our imaginations.
As of July 2017, the following fears have been brought to life.
A cuddly clown
A cute, "little" spider... made of human teeth

About the Artist:
Paul and his brother Michael opened Aradani Studios in 2002, selling both their artwork and costuming as they travelled all across the US. Paul’s medium of choice is charcoal, a passion he discovered in college. He loves the fluidity of it, the ease of moving it across the page with a simple gesture, and on the flipside, the challenge of it, such a simple gesture can also erase hours of painstaking detail. Paul’s work has won numerous awards around the country, including the prestigious Chesley Award in 2006, for Best Monochrome Unpublished for his piece Nightmare. He currently resides in Nashville, TN, where he, his brother, and sister continue to expand and build their elf ear empire. You can see his artwork at http://paulbielaczyc.com/.
