About the Piece:
When Michael and I were the Artist Guests of Honor at ConNooga back in the day, we designed the convention art as 2 halves of a single piece of art to be used by the convention. Michael's focused on horror and science fiction, and my half on fantasy and video games. As I worked on my piece in pastel, I finished the figures in the piece, a wizard with a gun and Samus Aran from Metroid.
My half of the poster was titled, "We Need a Hero," and featured the wizard and our interstellar heroine fighting some glowing space squid. Well, everyone that saw that piece asked, 1) "Who is that wizard with a gun," and 2) "why are they fighting a space squid."
So I cropped the art to leave the one part that everyone wanted to see.

About the Artist:
Paul and his brother Michael opened Aradani Studios in 2002, selling both their artwork and costuming as they travelled all across the US. Paul’s medium of choice is charcoal, a passion he discovered in college. He loves the fluidity of it, the ease of moving it across the page with a simple gesture, and on the flipside, the challenge of it, such a simple gesture can also erase hours of painstaking detail. Paul’s work has won numerous awards around the country, including the prestigious Chesley Award in 2006, for Best Monochrome Unpublished for his piece Nightmare.
